Paint and Electronic Recycling

Now Accepting Unwanted Batteries during regular collection events.
Microwaves: Counter Top, Over-the-range, built-in, & convection microwaves will be accepted on any collection day. Up to 7 microwaves will be accepted at the cost of $5.00 each.
Electronics: Unwanted TV’s and select consumer video devices, gaming systems, and home office electronic items may be brought in for recycling on any collection day. Up to 7 TVs/monitors will be accepted at the cost of $10.00 each.
Paint: Household generated paint, stain, and varnish will be accepted on any collection day. There is no cost for bringing in paint. The products must be in labeled, original containers.
Batteries: Single use, rechargeable, and medium- format batteries (up to 25lbs and 2000 watt-hours) typically found in electric, cordless lawn mowers/snowblowers, E bikes and scooters. We also accept Damaged batteries with the exception of batteries with a recall on them, those must be handled through the manufacture recall process.
Please note that regulations only allow for the acceptance of household paints, stains, and varnishes. Automotive paints, craft paints, lacquers, spray paints, paints from businesses as well as other household hazardous waste items are not accepted at these collections due to state and federal regulations.
This collection is held at the Macon County Environmental Management Recycling Center at 151 W. Wood St., Decatur.
Residents are encouraged to dispose of dry paint and empty cans in their household trash rather than bringing these items to the collection.
