A free paper shredding event will be held on Monday, June 6, 2022 from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Macon County Environmental Management Recycling Center, 1750 N. 21st Street, Decatur. No registration is required for this event. Residents are invited to bring confidential documents, files and other sensitive information for on-site shredding.

June 2022 Paint & Electronics Collection Events
For the month of June 2022, Macon County Environmental Management Recycling Center, 1750 N 21st Street, Decatur will be open on Tuesdays from 8:00 a.m. to noon and Thursdays from noon to 4:00 p.m. for residents to bring their unwanted paint and electronics. No appointment is necessary.

The Macon County Office Building is now open to the public. Visitors are required to wear a mask and practice social distancing. Masks will not be provided by the County. Each office may have additional safety precautions depending on their operations, so it is suggested to contact the office prior to visiting. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced yesterday (3/15/2020) the recommendation that event organizers cancel or postpone in-person events that consist of 50 people or more throughout the United States. Following this guidance, and with concern for the health of the residents of Macon County, the Macon County Environmental Management Department has made the decision to cancel the April 4th electronics collection and the April 18th paint collection events and will not be scheduling any other collection events until further notice.
