Household-generated latex-paint, oil-based paint, stains, and varnishes in their original containers with legible labels may be dropped-off for proper disposal by residents with a confirmed appointment.
Unwanted electronics, such as TVs, video devices, gaming systems and computer equipment, will be collected from those who register for an appointment. Most electronic items will be accepted free except for TVs/monitors at $10 each.

In partnership with the Illinois EPA, Macon County Environmental Management will be hosting a Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) collection event on Saturday, September 21, 2024. This event is open to ALL Illinois residents. The event will be from 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at Progress City, next to Richland Community College in Decatur. Residents MUST register in advance for a drop off time.
